Many thanks to the club members who gave their time today on what was a very productive lake work party. Mike Mundy, Alan Page, Mick Abbot, Mark Jones and Matt Vincent. Your help was greatly appreciated
Not the easiest day out on the canal with my lad . Water was crystal clear. Managed a handful of nice bream until a pike took my single maggot and broke me off. Also great to see other anglers out on the stretch.
Richard Banbury Glad you found a few! Tricky conditions today. The pike are rather fond of red maggots and like to hover them up. You will catch quite a few and if you miss a bite and your hook is missing, you will know the culprit!
Over the past 50 years I have been lucky to fish in many different countries, for many different species, using many different techniques but big Roach on the float are still my favourite. This one was from Church.
Todays club match at woofhall was well attended today with 15 fishing in total. Despite what turned out to be a really hard days fishing everyone enjoyed being back on the bank for a match. Richard Banbury was a deserved winner managing to tempt one...
Leslie Bailey not very good weights there, why is that i wonder ??
Club match this Sunday at wolfhall. 8 o'clock draw fish 9am til 2pm. All club members welcome. No booking in just turn up in time for the draw
Richard Banbury FYI, Wolfhall was gin clear today (Thursday). From the bridge to the turning bay virtually devoid of fish. You could see every inch of the bottom with Polaroid’s when the sun was out at lunch time. Likely to be a tough match. Fish seem to be concentrated up at Brimslade and Burbage.
Looking for some info on Heron Lake. Can’t seem to find much online. What numbers and size carp are their in the lake.
Richard Banbury Hi Jamie, welcome to the club. There are a handful of carp in the 7 to 14lb category in the lake but it is not intended as a carp venue. The club want to continue to develop it into a Silverfish, Tench and Crucian venue which personally I think is a good thing. There are a small number of carp in the canal as well in the Brimslade and Crofton compound sections.
